Any ideas for a camera attachment?

Me and some friends are planning a little prank on a group of friends. Nothing is more harmful, it is a bit of an in-joke, waste of time to explain his one. We need some kind of attachment for a camera (standard digital camera). We want to be Able to take a clear picture of a half-inch gap in a fence that is about an inch thick. What I think we need is something like a cable, we on the front can create and push through the gap. Is there such an item? If so, where can I buy it, and what kind of price I am looking forward to (cheap as possible)? Do I have a particular product to buy or improvise I do? Adonikis. I think I know what you mean, but I was thinking more of something we can put on the front of the lens, by a photo. Flexible periscope-style, if that makes sense?
